I’ve already posted a topic about Web 2.0 and how it reshaped the Internet. However, Web 2.0 was the base for a new set of technologies including: Enterprise 2.0, Government 2.0, Library 2.0, Health 2.0 (Medicine 2.0) and Project Management 2.0. The number “2.0” does not represent a version number, but it represents the link to Web 2.0. This post will list the definitions of the previously listed technologies.
Enterprise 2.0 according to Andrew McAfee’s, the Web 2.0 guru, is “is the use of freeform social software within companies.” But he was not satisfied with his original definition so he proposed this new definition: ”the use of emergent social software platforms within companies, or between companies and their partners or customers”. The limitation of the old definition is that Enterprise 2.0 is widely used in business-to-business and business-to-customer applications.
Government 2.0 is “neologism for attempts to apply the social networking and integration advantages of Web 2.0 to the practice of government”. Government 2.0 aims to use the existing Web 2.0 technologies including RSS, Google Maps, Web Services and blogs in order to provide better government processes for business and individuals.
Library 2.0, according to Michael Habib, “describes a subset of library services designed to meet user needs caused by the direct and peripheral effects of Web 2.0”.
Health 2.0, there are multiple definitions for Health 2.0 and numerous researches differentiate between Health 2.0 and Medicine 2.0. Health 2.0 according to Shreeve’s “the merging of the Web 2.0 phenomenon within healthcare”. According O’Grady eHealth 2.0, “describe the Web 2.0 movement in relation to health”. There is a many arguments around this topic. More information could be found on the sources below.
Project Management 2.0 is “the natural evolution of project management practices brought by Web 2.0 technologies”. This technology leveraged the use of virtual teams and facilitated new way for communicating project messages. This interesting topic will be elaborated in my next post.
